Correct oil filter????? urgent advice please!
Bought a O/E oil filter from a recently opened franchise dealer named Jem Subaru which is part of Japarts in Edgware north london.
First thing that worried be is that it's blue instead of the black it has always been.
Also, it clearly says on it that it's made in Canada for the USA by Honeywell???
I have been assured by the parts counter at the dealer that it is the correct item for the P1 and that the part number has been super seeded 3 times with this one being the latest one.
Having removed the origional filter form the car which was last fitted by RCM last year, there are a few small differences:
The internal holes covering the filter mesh are larger and less in number than the old filter?
The new filter has slightly less thread on the hole than th older one??
When looking at the 2 filters closely, the older black one just feels better in quality...even the lettering on it is clearer and the internal detail when looking at them both from the top just looks better made than the new blue filter??
The part numbers are differet on both??
I've decided not to fit the new filter till i can confirm it definatly is the right one and that the old black one is no longer avaliable!
So the P1's on jacks overnight draining all the oil out till tommorrow.
If anyone can help and advise please!!
Thanks all.

the new 1 you have just purchest is fine mate as i changed mine last month and it is exaclly the same as the blue oe 1 you have just got, and like yours it was made in the us(ops they get funny about this i ment canada), and the holes are slightly diffrent inside the filter. so get it on and dont worry.

Thanks peeps
Just a shame they've changed them as the older black one definatly looks like a better made item.
Suppose Subaru felt the pinch with the reccession last year and changed to a more cost effective manufacturer!!!
So now our oil filters are made by the same company who made my central heating system thermostats!!!!!
