Standard Subaru boost pipe is 4mm bore hardwall tubing. A lot of the "fancy" coloured stuff sold by aftermarket suppliers is relatively soft single ply silicone vacuum pipe and can balloon under pressure - to the point of causing boost control issues. As such, if you're going to replace the OE pipework, make sure you keep it handy to refit in case the stuff you buy turns out to be unsuitable.

Hmmm. 4mm bore, 8mm OD, 3mm wall thickness. Something there doesn't quite add up.

That looks like the thin stuff I've removed from a couple of cars that were having mysterious boost fluctuation issues.
