Default V2 engine swop for V3?

Hi guys, need some advice if poss?

Very recently bought a V2 555 which very quickly after purchase developed a misfire issue and boost was all over the place

So i took it to a local subaru specialist who nicely!, changed my spark plugs, cambelt, oil, oil filter and air filter. on collecting it they said the boost problem was cured and the misfire was a lot better- though still slight between 2/3k!, took it home and later went out for a run in it, ran like a bag of s**t ! phoned them the next day and told them, they said it was probably the dumpvalve (has some cheap chav crap on it) and to source an original one for them to fit!

Throughout all of this i had suspected the coil packs and mentioned this several times, i was advised they had swopped out coil packs one at a time as they had 1 new one (yes only 1) and it was definately not the coil packs!
I also asked them to carry out a compression check prior to installing a timing belt, i was advised this was done and the readings were between 120/130 across all 4 so no worries there.

this was last friday, on sunday i went to the WMI meet, only got as far as the robinhood pub and smoke started pouring out of the exhaust on tickover- white/blue colour. several peeps expressed the opinion it was turbo seals gone. AA to the rescue lol

my local (general, NOT scooby specialist) garage looked at the car for me on monday, apparently its the head gasket

i am currently considering my options ,having got over the wrist slashing/set fire to the damn car stage lol

As having the head gaskets done will probably cost between £7-900 and that wont give me piece of mind on the rest of the engine
i am considering removing the complete engine and swopping it for another complete engine having possibly found one that is a V3 recon engine BUT would i be able to swop my inlet manifold onto this and all other ancillaries?
Am i barking up the wrong tree?

Comments/advice would be appreciated guys

Andy

you can swap all of your ancillaries to a v3 engine, where is the new engine from? PLEASE be extra careful not to buy one from SMR/IDEAL ENGINES or HEATHROW ENGINE CENTRE as this will only end in tears.

Hi mate,
Thank you for the reply, i dont think its from one of those, but i'm going to ring the guy tomorrow and find out what exactly has been done to this engine to give it a recon.

Cheers

Andy
