Default Just fitted VF29 and strange noise

Just fitted an VF29 to my MY99 UK Model, gave it a little run to try out and it boosts ok but is making a diffrent noise to the other turbo, what should i look/listen for in case the turbo is a dud, it may just be the extra volume of air being sucked in through the k&n but worried it may be the bearing

getting mapped soon with a simtek by andy f so want the car to be perfect on the day also ordered a 3 port boost solenoid

You can't 'judge' a turbos characteristics - even the noise it makes - until it's fully and properly mapped for. Reserve judgement til then.

It's prob just the fact that it's glugging more air than the TD04, and what with it being unmapped, is not efficient in doing so - so slightly weird noise....

It will make more of a whistle sound compared to your Td04. Take it easy until Andy maps it map.

i would say 330 hp, However do not drive that car with boost, without a remap it will all end in you being skint and crying in bed every night

Mate, it will rip your arms off in comparison to your previous setup! I have just done the same and got over 320. It spools a fair bit later then starts really building from 3500 and then you get a massive kick at 4000 and the car properly launches away, all to the red line.

You will love it!

See here https://www.scoobynet.com/scoobynet-...ce-320bhp.html

EDIT: Note that the drop at the end of my graph is me getting off the gas, not the redline! My passenger (Bob) was getting jumpy!

Your car will make a different noise as the vf23 is a ball bearing turbo, unlike your td04 which was a sleeve bearing. At times you might here a whirring sound whilst driving and when starting/stopping this is normal as the bearings are spinning. Did your vf23 come with it's own oil feed bolts
Powerwise would expect to see 315 - 330 bhp with the mods you have,my car has similar specs to Marks car above, different exhaust and samco induction hose and when you get to 3500 rpm it's like being kicked by a horse.
You do not have to fit the 3 port till it is mapped, far better to put a piece of pipe from turbo compressor to the wastegate and remove t piece and leave your 2 port disconnected as the car will only be running on wastegate pressure only, so no chance of overboosting.
