Default removing pistons front a 2.0 non turbo (help)

A friend of mine is fixing a subaru for his mate at work, but is struggling to get the pistons out (he said he cant get the wratchet on the top bolts), i know SOD ALL about fixing engines but im sure someone on here will, can anybody advise me/him.

he needs to know how to - remove cylinder 4 big end conrod cap. he says the top nut is hidden inside the engine block and cannot reach with a regular spanner/socket, is there a special tool or trick for this ???

Usual method is to leave the conrods attached to the crank and just remove the pistons ?

There are covers to remove so that you can gain access to the circlips that keep the gudgeon pins in place.

If he removes the circlips and 'drifts' the gudgeon pins out, the pistons are no longer attached to the con rods and can be removed from the top of the block.
