Best turbo for quick bolt on power gain?
Just thinking about it at the minute, which model turbo would just bolt straight on and give me a good gain. My car is a 2004 wrx wagon, engine is standard. Would i need to get it mapped also?

you would need to get your car mapped if changing to a different turbo
might be a good idea to list the spec of your car so you could get advice on any other bits needed
you won't simply be able to fit a larger turbo without taking a few other things into consideration as well
fuel pump
clutch
gearbox (what you are wanting compared to how much it will take before breaking)
injectors
i know quite a few people with a wrx tend to go down the lines of
walbro fuel pump
full de-cat exhaust inc up-pipe
sti pink 550cc injectors
vf34 or vf35
i should think will give you anywhere between 300bhp and 340bhp
it will all depend how much power you want and how deep your pockets are

Probably a hybrid TD04, what have you done with your car so far? as ttpj has said, the car would need remapping and there are things that would improve spool up on your standard TD04 turbo before you contemplate going any further.

£1500? I was thinking the following prices, am I wrong?
Fuel pump £70
Decat including up-pipe £600
ECUtek remap £600
Injectors?
Turbo?
Fitting costs?
I had planned on doing the remap, decat and panel filter for my 2000 Classic. Is it worth holding fire and aiming for the new turbo and injectors? will my internals take this? Should I be aiming to do equal length headers as well?
Apologies for wading in but it is particularly relevant for me at the moment.

A remap of what you already have would bring a decent gain. Why not email some of the mapping gods that post on this site to see what they can offer. JGM, Bob Rawle, Andy forest to name but three.

Ok I was waiting for that one lol. Ok using my setup on an MY00 UK Impreza it ran a very strong 367bhp @ 1.4 bar (mapped and power run by Bob Rawle himself) even he could not believe it but its true, my V3 Sti using the same setup but with headers and a few other bits thrown in is easily running between 370 and 380bhp on V power alone. I am runnng another UK car with this setup on Friday next week I will let you know how it goes.
Cheers Iain
