Was it a genuine Forced Performance one. There are cheap far eastern versions of it that fail, or at the very least, don't perform.

The genuine FP can still look like a cheapo one as it uses the same shaped comp cover. But the CHRA is pukka and up to the job though.

Yes it was a genuine fp with all crap and serial number checked it with fp. At 1.4bar on v power it made 399bhp/390ft/lb performed sweet just are not very durable!

Such a shame. Wouldn't have been 'so bad' if it didn't make the numbers. Bummer!

Considered a harvey 20g? Or a SC40 or SC42 Billet? Or a 321H? - StuS has an H for sale....

Let me know how you get on with that turbo from Cr.
My TO4Z came from there too.

Unfortunately I agree Gus.

Fp state that it will cope with the boost but from my experience they are wrong.

It was a good turbo (briefly) but when there are great turbos around at that power level I dont see why anyone would want one of these.

Must be a problem exclusive to FP turbos, as the TT range of turbos still used 360 degree thrust bearings and they cope with 2.2 bar fine in my experience.

When I got my FP green there was a thing about removing the filter that is in the union where the oil; feed fits to the head. It was also in a technical instruction from subaru, if this is clogged then it restricts the oil. Could this filter being left in have been the cause of the thrust bearing demise? I have removed mine during fitting.

Gus,

Why did you buy a PF Green when you know Vince could do you a better one?
