Sorry to hear that Gus !

What bhp were you getting at 2 bar?

joz8968 27 August 2010 09:34 PM

Was it a genuine Forced Performance one. There are cheap far eastern versions of it that fail, or at the very least, don't perform.

The genuine FP can still look like a cheapo one as it uses the same shaped comp cover. But the CHRA is pukka and up to the job though.

gus sti8 27 August 2010 09:40 PM

Yes it was a genuine fp with all crap and serial number checked it with fp. At 1.4bar on v power it made 399bhp/390ft/lb performed sweet just are not very durable!

gus sti8 27 August 2010 09:41 PM

The thrust bearing I's a very old design and can't cope

joz8968 27 August 2010 09:43 PM

Such a shame. Wouldn't have been 'so bad' if it didn't make the numbers. Bummer! :(

Considered a harvey 20g? Or a SC40 or SC42 Billet? Or a 321H? - StuS has an H for sale.... ;)

gus sti8 27 August 2010 10:44 PM

I have a Cr turbos gt30 based turbo to try now! See what numbers this makes

joz8968 28 August 2010 12:53 AM

Oh, in that case............ Nice! ;)

Let me know how you get on with that turbo from Cr.
My TO4Z came from there too.

Unfortunately I agree Gus.

Fp state that it will cope with the boost but from my experience they are wrong.

It was a good turbo (briefly) but when there are great turbos around at that power level I dont see why anyone would want one of these.

Must be a problem exclusive to FP turbos, as the TT range of turbos still used 360 degree thrust bearings and they cope with 2.2 bar fine in my experience.

gus sti8 28 August 2010 06:03 PM

It's a garret core in the Tt turbo though int it martyn as the fp is a STD mitsi thrust fai I personally know Vince and that turbo will be faultless :)

gus sti8 29 August 2010 01:29 PM

pic added to show its a genuine fp

stealthy55 29 August 2010 02:39 PM

i was considering one of these from sm/a51, glad i went for the "v" never had a problem with it and making the power

360ste 29 August 2010 09:32 PM

When I got my FP green there was a thing about removing the filter that is in the union where the oil; feed fits to the head. It was also in a technical instruction from subaru, if this is clogged then it restricts the oil. Could this filter being left in have been the cause of the thrust bearing demise? I have removed mine during fitting.

gus sti8 30 August 2010 12:16 AM

Mine was full bore from the oil pump!!! The turbo is **** end off!!!! The design is old

Fai17 30 August 2010 12:53 AM

Gus,

Why did you buy a PF Green when you know Vince could do you a better one?

gus sti8 30 August 2010 01:24 AM

Cos I'm a bargain hunter like most forum people and I paid650 brand new for the green! Wasent even used grrrrrrrrrrrr! Lol live and learn

dunx 30 August 2010 06:02 PM

My GT3076 cored monster is making nothing, (2.5 required), but next weekend "she" gets a 0.62 exhaust housing to aid spool...

Wha ha ha !
