Default v8 ppp sti cats question

hi can anyone tell me please

my car has/had ppp from the turbo i can see the sports cat which is connected to another section with a temp sensor then a straight middle section (i know has been changed) then the prodrive back box

question is the second part that has the temp sensor in is this another cat ?

if so anyone know anywhere that does a pipe to replace it ?

thanks

that would be the second cat that prodrive remove- it has brackets to use the original heat shields for a o.e. look lol

its meant to be a straight through de-cat pipe with the heatshields bolted round it, god knows why they done this then it goes to the standard centre section with a silencer, then the prodrive backbox. i cant see the pic here at work lol.

Hmmmm interesting, as yours is an MY03 STI it should have a 3 part exhaust system, downpipe, centre section (with cat/silencer) and back box, MY05's have a 4 piece though.

tony

mine is indeed a my03 sti

will the fact it was ppp make a difference ?

i is 100% 4 piece and has a prodrive sports cat complete with the wrapping, the previous owner before a turbo change and remap decided to remove the 3rd piece that had a silencer for a straight through to unlock a little more sound.

i will be fitting a 3" system at some point when i find a quiet-ish one i'm happy with and funds permitting until then i will just be changing the turbo for my sc46 and another quick map

i am interested to see what the 46 does on a fairly standard set up

i've promised myself i'm not going mad on this one

my overall plan is to have around or just over 400bhp when i have changed the exhaust with standard top mount, mainly to see if it's do-able although i'm not in the slightest chacing bhp figures this time just something really punchy for the road

They are 3 part exhaust systems, the cat (original) has baffle at the end of the pipe (or the 2nd cat), then the centre section and then the back box, an MY05 STI has a shorter cat, then a second cat, then a shorter center section then the back box.

Just go have a look on any exhaust site 3 part (I know as ive been under mine whilst its on the ramp to see where there is a slight blowing from and I have a backbox/center from an MY05 car, too short due to those having 4 part systems).

my standard downpipe that my car had before i swapped to the prodrive one is the same length. the afterburner vortex R cat back system then comprises of a short (de) "cat pipe" then a long centre section then back box.

i sold my original sti cat back inc centre cat to someone so cant look at that lol, but my downpipe is short and must have attached to the next cat. i have a centre decat off a wr1 that came with my ppp downpipe and that is a short decat pipe too

this came off my car

this is the prodrive decat pipe.

my vortex system is a centre de cat pipe like the ppp one pictured, then a centre section, then back box
