Hi all

Can anyone confirm that the early closed deck block is a direct bolt-in to a MY99 UK car? I'm talking purely about the block here, not the heads and manifolds.

Will all the MY99 ancilleries bolt up to the early CDB block?

Yes, it will fit.

The early block has a four bolt bell housing (2 studs at the bottom and 2 bolts at the top)
The later block is 6 bolt and 2 stud design, but will still fit - The only mod you will need to make is to put a stud into your gearbox in place of the bottom starter motor bolt, so that the starter can still be attached correctly.

Thanks. I'm contemplating building something on the side to keep on the shelf for when my engine dies (it's knocking slightly when cold) and wondering about the CDB. I don't have any experience of building Subaru engines though so don't know all the tricks of the trade (eg the stuff not written in the rebuild handbook ) so may just get the block and give it to someone to assemble.
