Default Power steering question...

Hi all

Just noticed that my power steering is making some whining sounds on standstill whilst turning the wheel, been looking on here for info and seems that low fluid can be a cause.

Checked fluid and it is low so looked around for a leak and i have discovered one on the pipe that goes infront of the radiator. its gone quite rust and gone through.

I believe this pipe is the PAS fluid cooler, is it really needed?

I dont want to drive the car while loosing fluid so can i bypass it for now until i can source a new one?

Cheers

Rich

Just changed one for my mate. They rust because of our road salt. The one I bought to replace it was aluminium, so shouldn't go rusty again

Replace the leaking u bend cooler. You can run without but the fluid will possibly boil over particularly during low speed car parking when you crawl round a car park.
