Default heat wrapping....

would there be any benefit from heat wrapping your fmic pipes...

a fellow member on midland scoobies has done so, but i havent seen it done on any other cars???i suppose any way of keeping the temps down is a good thing, but thought id ask if anyone else has done it...

I would have thought keeping the air in the pipes cool will help the intake temps but as they don't radiate heat like an exhaust then cost against benifit is probably minimal.

It makes logical sense to leave the pipe running from turbo to FMIC unwrapped, so that it loses as much heat as possible on it's way to the IC.

Then after the charge has been cooled properly by the IC core, it would aslo make sense to have the pipe from IC to TB wrapped, so as to insulate the now "cold" charge from underbonnet temps, to prevent "reheating" it a bit.

As above, it's prob not gonna make much difference, due to the transient nature of the air charge moving at great speed - thus not having time to radiate (lose), or conduct (gain), significant heat.

Bought some yesterday and will be doing the IC to TB pipe tomorrow using heat reflective wrap.
