Why not get dmc to rebuild it Cheaper and at least you know (or should) what the new internals are

There are a lot of shady characters out there selling recon / used engines.......usually linked to each other in some way.

http://www.usedcarmart.co.uk/forum/t...s-limited.html

Do a bit of googling and searching on scoobynet to find out some of the horror stories

If it's a daily driver, then why not get a cheapie runabout in the meantime? Then you can save, at your leisure, the extra c.£1,400 you'll need for API to do the job properly.... and ONCE.

I was a victim of an SMR engine too!

If you do an advanced search in the Gen Tech forum, and search keyword "SMR" with search in all posts chosen, then you'll trawl in the horror show.....

Most of us panic like that when engine blows. I did.

But it's all about being in the know/learning from experience.

You're doing the right thing by doing your research. Any queries, keep asking........

Quite right it wont, as it uses a different compression height piston the 1995 engine,

Anything up to 1998 will fit though.

David APi

PS If you've just got a melted piston and the crank is OK we can rebuild that properly within your budget. Carriage will come into play of course and there won't be much change, but it'll be a proper job.
