Hi All,
Can someone correct me if I am wrong with the following...
EJ20 = Std 2 litre block, comes in open & closed deck variations
EJ22 = Std Legacy 2.2 litre, EJ22T = closed deck version
I presume the 22B also uses the EJ22T.
Can the EJ20 be bored out & relined to 2.2 or can I use modified heads from an EJ20 with the EJ22T block??
Thanks in advance
Tim.

Tim,
You're right with block descriptions. I certainly wouldn't want to bore the EJ20, out to an EJ22.
EJ20 = 92mm
EJ22 = 96.9mm
You could get it relined, but it would be very expensive. It would be cheaper to find an EJ22T block. Alternatively, stroke a closed deck EJ20.
Mark.

Thanks for the info Mark, You wouldn't happen to know which models the EJ22T was fitted to? I've got a feeling it wouldn't to be very easy to get hold of one!
Thanks,
Tim.

If you are looking for the EJ22T, you may want to contact ionperformance@yahoo.com (iON Performance Inc.)
IIRC MorayMackenzie (one of your fellow chaps) has contacted them in regards to the EJ22T.

just to be clear. The 22B does not use an ej22t block. These have oil squirters as standard which the 22B doesnt.
To my knowledge, no uk car (uk 22B aside) ever used an ej 22t block.
The 22B block is more likely to be a very early legacy 2.2 closed block.
