Default Rear Spoiler Brake light STI spoiler

The brake light on my rear spolier has lost half its L.E.D's.

Could this just be a loose connection or is the whole light in need of replacement ?

Is there an easy way to replace the light without removing the spoiler altogether ?

Any help appreciated.

Likely to be damage to the pcb that carries the LEDs It is possible to split the light unit and wire in new LEDs, but it's NOT easy.

If it's an OE spoiler, I'm afraid not. The screws that hold it in place can only be accessed from underneath.

However, spoiler removal for an OE spoiler isn't that bad, half a dozen screws, some bolts, the wiring connector an off she pops.

If its a genuine OE Spoiler, you should be able to get one from Subaru.
If not, there are many different shapes, so you'll struggle. Best thing to do, as mentioned, is crack the light unit open, replace LED's.

I'll give that a try. My Brothers a sparkie so might see if he can help replace.

I take it the Aftermarket LED strip has a slightly different fitment to the genuine one ? Would be a lot less hassle to just pop in a new unit but if it cant be done then it cant be done i suppose.

cheers for your feedback.

I had an aftermarket spoiler, and looking at those and some other aftermarket ones, they all had different fitments. So trying to locate the firm that manufacturers them and then getting just the unit could be a mission.
Where as the OE unit was obviously one fit, so is easier to locate.

Yeah that is an absolute bummer. The thought of having to take the whole spoiler off and **** about with the led's is not something i fancy doing. Knowing my luck i'll break something and it wont all go back together the way it came off !!

but its doing my head in, need to get it sorted one way or another.
