Not entirely sure yet was thinking along the lines of a 2.1 stroker or maybe a 2.5 conv bought a car with knackered bottom end but waiting to see what the extent of the damage is.

They are open, dont be worried if its open, semi open (new age only) or closed, unless your running 500+bhp it will handle the power happily (though the standard internals would have ejected themselves out the side of the block along time before that

Yeah cheers Tony was just enquiring to see what it might have in it it's damaged at the moment anyway and I'm not at home to arrange things and also have a lack of internet access time to search things out which is a pain. Can anyone confirm if a complete V5 engine will go straight into the V4 or would it be a case of just swapping the bottom end? Was basically thinking of getting the 2.1 Stroker advertised for sale in teh hope it would be a pretty easy swap?
wiring harness is diff mate, v3 and 4 are the same and 5-6 are the same, you would probs just have to swap the main wiring harness, ( which could be a bitch of a job!!) good luck
It's a bugger, as the v.3/4 IM don't fit the v,5/6 heads, so can't retain all the original v.3/4 wiring harnesses.
The no ballache route is just the bottom end swap...
