Have you put a standard air filter back in to see if the noise stops?

Thats a good point tony will try that!!! Def not tranmission.
Is it easy to tell if the gasket beween the downpipe and turbo was blowing out

could be your turbo blades getting worn because as the blades wear the gap between the fin and housing icreases and the noise they create changes, could even be sum debri has impacted the fins and slightly moved 1.

and this noise has only started since you added the panel filter because they are alot thinner in design to stock but they also can let tiny parts of debris through, which can impact the fins,it literally takes afractions movement[thou or so]to change the noise created by the turbo.

If it only occurs when you put radio on i'd say a suppression issue. is it a a standard head unit?

Small split in the hose from the turbo to the intercooler?
Needs to be fixed else you will be overspeeding the turbo.
