connect a multimeter accross the 2 wires that go to the rear brake light ,im assuming you on about the high level light in the spoiler, see what reading you are getting should be around 12v dc,check you havn't a short to earth or ground on the car ie wires rubbing together or to the body work anywhere where it passes through a hole without a grommet,is it light bulbs or leds in question ?

If you are talking about the lamp blowing then I cannot think of a reason other than a bad batch of bulbs. A corroded connection will only increase the circuit electrical resistance thus reducing the current drawn. Evewn if you somehow got hold of 24 volt bulbs they would only be dimmer and I doubt you will have got 6 volt bulbs unless some motorbikes or scooters have them. I have 20 years of doing military spec electrics including 7 years of vehicle electrics.
