Default bugeye crankshaft sprocket woes?

how many timing trigger points does a bugeye crankshaft sprocket have??as a friend of mine has a bugeye wrx that he has bought a new engine for, and it will not start it has fuel and very weak intermittent spark he has checked the timing, done a compression test checked everything, also how many trigger points should the cam pulley have? cheers.

Should have 30 on the crank sprocket and 2 on the back of the cam pulley IIRC

cheers mick there is 6? on the crank and 5 on the cam this would point to the problem then.

Would imagine so - sounds like you have the Classic (up to Version 6) pulleys fitted.

yeah thats sounds about right even though the engine had been rebuilt for a newage, like you say obviously has the wrong pulleys
