Smile can u map standard ecu

hi people help
can u map standard ecu or do i need to spend alot of money to get a new ecu like simtec. oh i have 1996 v3 sti. i ask because i was going to get a front mount but everyone says i need a remap after fitting. im abit thick when it comes to stuff like this. i just love the car.

On a MY97 (which yours is if its a version 3 sti) then no so you will have to go after market, and yes, you will need a map after fitting a fmic.

you can go piggy back but you might as well spend a few more quid for a sim tec or even a power fc as piggy backs are a bit old hat now

Dont think ESL have done a piggy back for the 97/98 cars yet.

Doesnt make any difference really, all MY97/98 ecu's are not mappable, any other year and you can atleast go esl (MY93-96) or remap (MY99 onwards) but not on your car which is a 1997 year model

Power FC or Simtek for your year of car ATM.

Either ECU will hold it's resale value, so if you can find a secondhand one at the right price, you're onto a winner

Dynamix,can you elaborate on the esl board,i too have an MY98 uk turbo with an 8S ecu which at present cannot be mapped !!!
