Default WRX 2002 Engine check light !! Help....

Hi,

I was driving my 2002 wrx yesterday (61k on clock) no mods apart from a cat back exhaust and bov but they have been on for years....

Put my foot down on an open road and the engine check light came on... Car seems to still drive ok, (possibly slightly down on power) i have booked it in for a check up at the local subaru dealer... Need i worry about expensive rerpairs??

Cam sensor error is a common problem on bugeyes.

This typically comes on at high revs (did you hit the limiter by any chance?), start and stop the engine about 4 times and it will go away.

Just to back up the previous 2 posts, the early DENSO ECU gets a bit twitchy at high revs and throws a camshaft CEL. Usually goes after 5 starts

Thanks for all your posts guys.. after 5 starts the light has gone out and has stayed out! and yes it happened at high revs.. dont usually rev it hard to the red line but i was giving an evo a good run for its money so it had to be done!! lol...

Default Engine worry on 2002 WRX Bug Eye

Hi,

When i start my WRX from cold i can here a slight tick from the engine for a second then it goes away.. Nothing loud, just slight,

Just had the oil changed etc at a specialist and its still the same.. Drives fine and sounds ok on tick over. Its just that 1 second when first started from cold..

Need i worry???

Exclamation DROP LINK FITMENT - HELP!!!

The front drop links on my 2002 wrx have worn out... I have purchased a pair of replecments. So far so good.

Got under car and tried to turn the nut on the old drop links but the shaft just spins and this is where i get stuck. How the heck do these things come off??

A detailed guide would be much appreciated if someone out there has done these before.
