sti newage 6 speed gear **** - reverse mechanism not releasing by itself - stickin up
as above
my reverse lever that you lift up doesnt release by itself no more when going back intro neutral.
ive got to push it down myself manually
it was fine before.. but i tested a tegiwa fear shift extendor yesterday that wasnt compatible and made it stick up just like it is doing now..
anyway removed it and rturned to standard gear **** and all was fine all yesterday, its just started sticking when i started up today
anyway to sort it?
i hope i havnt damaged anything using the extendor.. it was simply screw on and screw off..
Eddy
cheers

is that the black rubber thing once you take the gear **** off?
i didnt see a cable, all i did was unscrew the gearknow, and screw on the extension which squashed the rubber a bit and made reverse stick, removed extension and put gear **** back on and worked fine for a day..
if its not the black rubber thing.. where would i find the drift thing?

Serves you right for adding a pudding stirrer to your car.....
Why would anyone want a longer "Fast & Furious" style gearshift ?
Try some light oil on the moving parts, or you may have damaged something.
Sorry !
dunx

the lift up part has a drift in, if thats not right or u have squashed it it wont return right,
Ive just fitted a new short shifter and had a similar issue until I tapped it in a little more,
Im off out to the workshop later so I will dig the instructions out as 1 picture can speak a thousand words.
