Default Do I need a fuel pump??

Just a quick one! Im going to decat and remap my WRX, but as my standard turbo will run out of puff at 280 ish bhp will I need to upgrade to a Walbro 255? Or can this be safely reached with the standard pump??
Cheers

What car is it, and year?

If its a bug or before I would change it anyway as they are 9yr old plus. Only £70ish and 20 mins to fit.

I changed mine before mapping (advised to do so).

Its an 05 WRX PPP was thinking of changing to be on the safe side but just wondered if it was needed to reach the 280 max of the turbo!

I recently replaced my pump for a hio-flow item as the 255lph pump is rated to about 450 bhp and as I am now at 416 bhp taking into account the pump was fitted 6 years ago thought best to play safe. The 255 lph is a straight swap but the hi-flow one I got required a few trial fits as the pump is longer so the outlet pipe needed cutting and then the filter fitting piupe needed cutting before it would fit. So took most of the day as was done in quiet times during work.

Andy for 280bhp your pump should be fine at only 5yr old. However to be on the safe side I would either speek to your mapper in advance for advice or buy one from lateral performance £72 delivered I think. Fitting is simple, just require basic tools, and 20min of your time. JGM has a fitting guide on his web page too.

Who is mapping your car, you not fancy bolting on the other relatively inexpensive parts to get close to 330bhp when mapped?
