Hi all, I have a subaru impreza turbo 2000 on v reg year 99, I want to upgrade the turbo but I'm not sure what turbo it has, I think it is a td04, could some one tell me. also what would be a good upgrade, I'm looking to take the car upto the 300bhp mark. Thanks

Your 440cc injectors are good for 330-340bhp on a good day. THE TMIC should be near that too. A great no-hassle swap would be the VF35. Cheap 2nd hand (c.£250 for a good 'un), has fab spool and will invariably make 330-340+ after an EcuTek remap - so ideally matched to the injectors and TMIC.

Also, being south of 350bhp/350lb ft gives the gearbox a chance of surviving for longer....

Either that of a VF28 which has super fast spool up and is good for upto 330bhp

True - the VF28/29's have even keener spool (if you're not worred about maximising your bhp - although an extra 10-20bhp is a moot point on the road for 90% of the time). So yeah, prob even a better option and can get these even cheaper (when one crops up )...
