Post How much is my NEWLY rebuilt Classic worth

Hi, Basicaly i am being forced into selling my pride and joy a 1998 uk turbo, in order to be able to afford a mortgage. The only unusual thing is i havent even driven it yet as its been away having a forged re build, Brakes, etc over the last 18months since i bought it. All that needs doing now is a respray and ive even done the prep work for that. I need to know how much i can sell it for once i have it back from having the engine installed this weekend.
This engine will be running around 450 BHP and as strong as nails.
88,000 miles.

All parts New, i mean all parts!

Spec:
EJ20
ACL Race bearings
Uprated nitrated crankshaft
Wiseco forged pistons
Eagle H beam conrods
Cometic head gaskets
ARP Head bolts
V3/4 STI cylinder heads (rebuild and skimmed)
Cylinders re-bored to suite pistons
light weight metal cam pulleys
lightweight fidanza flywheel
Cam belt
Idle pulleys and belt tensioner
uprated oil pump
water pump
Walbro 255litres/min fuel pump
Denso 550cc injectors
Full stainless decat ninja exhaust
Front mount intercooler 3" tubing
Baileys dump valve
K&N induction kit
Mostly silicone hoses
Clutch (will get spec)
Apexi power FC ECU with hand controller
HKS turbo timer
Turbo - waiting for delivery on one of the new ones supplied through scooby clinic (Billet compressor wheel etc) Good for 450Bhp i think.
17" prodrive alloys

BRAKES:
Front,

AP racing 4pot front calipers
356mm grooved godspeed discs
ferrodo ds2500 pads

rear,
Sti 2pot rear calipers
grooved godspeed discs
pads
high quality brake fluid £45 Per litre

The engine will be ready for running in, filled with new oil, water coolant clutch fluid etc.
No tax or M.O.T at present as it is sorn off the road.

Break and sell for parts, you will get more money that way.

3.5 to 4k for a car with a forged rebuild like yours, I believe is the "market's rate" (possibly a bit less, seeing as the base car is a Turbo 2000 AWD?).

But god knows how much it'll be devalued because of the prep'd bodywork. If you account for £1500 for a reasonable respray (plus NO MOT/tax!), then scooby-tc is probably not far off TBH (?)

I'd follow Tony's advice TBH mate...

As you can probably imagine i need the quickets ans easiest way out im so gutted i wont ever get to enjoy what i have created out of an old standard car. So might get it mot'd and taxed and see what happens?

If no joy there, off to the breaking approach

Thanks, I will put it up for sale anyway there mite be someone out there who will appreciate how much it costs to obtain a spec like that and wouldn't mind forking out the money to avoid the whole re-build process Themselves. Its the prep work that costs the money for a respray the paint and a sprayer are actually cheap.

Anyone want a fast scooby that jsut needs painting lol....................

i'd keep it sorn m8 for a while, i mean you have already spent most the money on it, and once you get the morgage i wil doubt you will ever have the money to build another 1, so get the bits done and then dry store her, put £20 away each week and before you know it your baby will be on the road.................i lost my business in 2005 and it took me till this year get my baby, and each week i save a bit here and bit there, last week went to japfest and got me some new gauges.............it'll soon build up, or stuff the morgage lol

i'v had mine five year's give or take and it's taken me that long to just get to what i have now( which ain't no where near what you have).
so i'd say keep it sorn and just kep saving what you can as you'll never get what you think she is worth and u'll miss it trust me.
goodluck tho with what ever you choose to do!

Yea i agree with you all if there is anyway i can keep it i will and i know for sure i'd never get back what i spent! It would be criminal to get this far, just 5 days away from it going down to the builders to have the engine, turbo, exhaust, ecu, fitted and running etc. Any how when its back i still can't afford to insure it or run it but at least ive still got it for when the time comes, thats the main thing.

I can't wait to hear it running again especially now it will be so far from how it was when i last heard it running i hope the mods haven't made it loose any of that legendary flat four rumble!!

I have stuck to standard headers/manifolds so i don't think i will?
