Help any Ideas
My spec D cut out down the motorway the other day only for about 1 second, I had a look under the bonnet today and it looks like there is oil residue in the water reservoir Do you think its the head gasket ? the wife dove today and said the water temp was up a little!
Is it a major job if its just the head gasket?
These things always happen at the worst time

funny i have just taken it out and everything's fine temp and performance I emptied the water coolant bottle out and it wasn't exactly oily it was more really dirty water with some sort of deposits in it. Also the other reservoir in the middle of the engine bay is fine not what I would call oily just dirty, now the wife is saying that the temp gauge didn't go over half way

When it cut out were you booting it ? could have been simple overboost. Do you have a boost gauge to be able to check ?
HG's are defo an issue but paranoia does tend to set in when something out of character happens. What coolant is in there, I have heard of coagulation and discolouration of coolant depending on the original mix and moving to organic/Hybrid OAT etc etc etc zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
