Hello guys,
Did a search and can not find a poll so though i,d start one on what oil your using/used and you findings/experience.
Currently using shell helix 5w-40 told it runs cooler than motul/silkolene

OP if you like to extend the engine revs a lot/for extended periods, then I'd opt for a 50 hot weight. As many on here have testified, a 10W-50 is a common and sensible choice, ergo in Millers CFS or Silkolene Pro S flavours...

I would change it to a nice 10w50, even a 10w40, you will gain more power and dissipate heat better, the 60 wont do that in your car (but it will stop any oil leaking out cos it'll plug any gaps

Been using 10/60 for 18 month tony car is on standard internals don 80k, the wife uses it as a daily driver and i punish it at the weekend and its never missed a beat, never even had a cel light on. ive got a set of nismo 740s and got a 20g off Andy F on sunday at knockhill just need to find a spare few hours to stick them on then i can go 30% meth and should see 400. How long will it last then ?????

She wont last long on the standard internals at 400bhp
the oil will cause drag in your engine and wont lubricate as well at normal operating temperatures as its 50% thicker than a 40 weight oil, its not recommended by subaru for a reason you know

Looks like a good esther based 10-40w / 10-50w is the normal order of the day then.
Oilman i,m just goin on what one of the most formidable mappers had passed on seems to work and run fine so can,t see a case for changing at present.

03 STi at around 380bhp I've used most brands and weights over the years (who remembers Duckhams Q20/50 back in the '60's!)
Using either Millers CFS 5/40 or 10/40 in winter months and CFS 10/50 for the summer.

even in a new age I would prefer a 5w40 over the 5w30 weight, many an engine has had the dreadded knocking due to the oil being too thin
