UK car with a Jap ECU? If so the speed limiter will stop the car at 112mph, which is often an indicated 120mph on the speedo.

The ecu is under the carpet on the passenger side. Pull back the carpet and undo two bolts, then tell us what code is on the ecu.

If it's a 99 ecu then I suspect it's running in limp mode due to an old MAF sensor, just running low boost now and unable to go beyond 120 due to power.

It will sort itself out if indeed it is that. To check the MAF you need to datalog the ECU after a reset, a dealer can do this but most don't know what they're looking for! Ecutek mapper can tell you very quickly and easily.
