Default CFS 10w60, all systems go??

Picked up a 4lt can of this at Japfest.

When i got home, to my shock i realised it was Millers 10w60 and not a 10w50 that Opie oils recommended. Not so clued up on viscosity so before i change the oil in the beast can anyone tell me if this is going to bite me in the **** if i use it?

Just means better protection at higher temperatures, I use it as mine does the odd trackday.

Means its like treacle at your normal temps, not good for scoobs that are not heavily modified

It will be fine as this has been in my car for about 4 years.....however i have recently changed to there 10w 50 after some advise from certain members on here..

But if Millers had not started making the 10w 50 then i would of stuck to the 10w 60...

Will 4lt be enough...?????

As above, the viscosity is the least of your worries. You'll need more than 4 litres.

What does running a 10w60 mean? less heat dispearsion (it doesnt flow well), more drag on the engine, more pressure on the oil pump, and these are the least of your worries

A 60 oil is 50 percent thicker than a 40 oil at 100 degree C

As youve got it, use it and get your moneys worth from it. Then next time, go for the 10w-50.

Cheers

I can always always sell it on to my mate and get some 10w40 or 10w50. Also reading back on the posts even though i bought 5lt oil my car only needs 4lt of engine oil.

There is no way i will get 500ml in my oil filter, hope i dont have the wrong filter. It did use 4.3lt at last change but i always use the dipstick to confirm correct level. Cheers Tony

You have to top it up in stages and let it settle

Well mine runs CFS 10W60, as this is what Zen filled it with.

And as far as i am aware, Zen Performance know what they are doing when it comes to engines.

PS, if my engine ran 350 bhp with this oil, due to all the extra drag of its treacle-like properties, how much power am i losing.....?

Zen may be awsome when it comes to engines, but when it comes to oil them choosing SAE60 for an engine when not required is wrong. Unless you are getting bulk oil sump temps of 150degc + for prolonged periods no need to go or even think about SAE60.

Power difference? You could shove some 5w-40 in it, dyno it and see what kind of difference there is.

Cheers
