This could mean a host of things, I am sure you will have to plug and play to see what the root cause is (engine diagnostic check)

Welcome so we have absolutely no idea why it has come on, do you have any information on the car like is it standard, modified etc, has anything been done in the last day or 2 etc as the more information we have, the better chance we have of figuring something out, but a dealer/speciallist is still your best bet for a cel

As Ginola say's, give fiestaboy a shout first, he will be cheaper than SGT but get some pics up not very often you get to find a nice unmodified example of a scoob

Not long after I got my 2002 WRX Bugeye, I had to see what it was made of and after canning it for a while, the engine managment light came on. It came on and off for a day or two and has not been on since, this was a good few months now, everythings still fine.....I suppose it got used to the way i drive lol

So i'd say try not to worry, unless it stays on for some timme

Sounds like a camshaft position sensor error.......the Denso ECU gets a bit confused when the revs get near the limiter. The CEL usually goes out after 5 starts of the engine.

The Bugeye 2001 phase 1 (radio mast in the a-pillar) was a bit of a random CEL generator LOL

There will be a historic code stored on the ECU, I'd find someone who can read the codes to check.

You were bang on mate, cam piston sensor thanx alot.Went in too a cold sweat when it happened lol. Cheers to ginola for recommending Fiestaboy this man is a scooby genius. He came round diagnosed cam sensor, reset ecu and now the car runs really sweet and pulls much better. i think maybe the old boy i bought it from was running it on regular unleaded. but a tank n a half of V-power and an ecu reset has worked wonders. Cheers again to all its like a new car. Happy Scoobin
