Will a RB5 ECU (E3 AE801) fit on my00 uk w reg saloon classic

I have a PPP wr sport ECU that i want to sell and replace it with a ECU from a Rb5 that was given to me if possible.

I would just like to know if it will fit or cause any running problems?

If not which one will i need to replace?

Yes it definetley will fit,as i sold my prodrive ecu last week(£280),and replaced it with an E3(AE800) off my 1999MY wagon.Fitted it to a MY 2000 wagon no issues at all,and it is a 3 plug connection(1 blank) ,i believe the earlier cars used 4 plugs

You can fit the AE800/801 or 802 to your car, teh 802 was standard on the MY00, the 800 on the early 99's and the 801 on slightly later MY99 cars.

There was a thread on here a few weeks ago about a similar sort of subject and iirc the earlier ecu's - E3 (800/801's - 1999) had slightly more scope than the Y7(802 - 2000).

As has been said there are a number of threads on this so search is your friend.

Short answer is that AE800/801 runs a slightly leaner main fuel map and slighly more aggressive ignition timing, plus other detail changes. Bottom line is that a car running an AE800/801 will produce a little more power, and also feel subjectively quicker than one with an 802.
