also its a diamond shape mate. the 1 your after is more of a kite style shape so if you look under the dump valve you will have a hole an lose boost. that valve is for 98-00 facelift mate

And do yourself a favour: stick with the original, your engine will thank you.

Put the £110 towards something worth doing.........

The ECU is expecting the air to go through the engine........and not dissapear into the atmosphere. Possible fuelling issues

would it?

there's no way of knowing how much air has entered the engine and how much has vented to atmosphere, so remap or not the AFM is still going to be confused

But I think the mapper could at least estimate (maybe accurately measure somehow?) the amount of air lost throughout the rev range when doing a gearchange, and thus alter the fuelling in the map to suit... This would 'compensate' for the MAF's inability to account for said lost air.

As you say, when the OEM ECU is still used with the original map, the fuelling hasn't altered for the VTA (as the vented air all happens post-MAF) obviously - so hence rich fuelling on a closed throttle when coming off boost.

LOL - I recently sold a ****e valve on eBay for about £40.00. They just are not worth £110 mate, like its been said already but please do take it back and use the money elsewhere, and as already said the valve in wrongly shaped, im sure they are not as shaped at the top (more flat)

Having had a quick look you have been sold a DV10 which are very old. The DV12 is the kite shaped one:

old DV10

DV12

Anyway put the recirc back on save for a remap, you'll enjoy it more and sill your car.... Your only £190 short with the refund money for a good mapper!!

HTH
Rob

Oh, don't get me wrong - I'm in this camp for sure ^^^.

Just that if OP really wants to keep his VTA, then if he goes about it properly by getting it "mapped in", he'd therefore at least give it a chance to work as best it can. Or rather the ECU's ability to control the fuelling for it, etc.

But I agree - can't better the OEM recirc (or a Forge pattern replacement).
