Default 1 year on...

My car is a 99MY WR Sport with 168K miles on the clock and as far as im aware this is still on the original engine...performance wise its fully decatted and drives great but now 1 year on, I want more. Coming from Edinburgh, Andy F is just down the road and with all the good things I hear about his work, I was browsing his webiste.

I have just bought a used Apexi Power FC ecu and Wing Commander to replace my PPP ecu. My plan was then to exchange my existing TD04 for one of Andys AFP4H turbos, walbro fuel pump, cosworth panel filter and remap. Exhaust is 2.5" diameter with prodrive back box.

With this sort of spec in mind, any ideas as to what power output I could expect and would it be worth it? Also, with the wing commander, is it possible to run two boost settings i.e. say 240bhp and ???

I would be more than happy with 300 bhp, dont want to go down the fmic route, or not right now anyways.

The MY99 ecu is remappable. Why the Apexi?

My MY99 UK car made 330/310 on a VF28, full decat, NGK plugs, Green panel filter and Walbro fuel pump. after ECUTEK remap.

My intentions were to pass on my PPP ecu to my friend who has a standard MY99 classic but you say this can be remapped? And I take it that would erase the Prodrive map completely? I chose Apexi from what ive read on the Andy Forest website and general browsing of scoobynet. There is a VF28 on ebay atm.

prodrive ecu cant be remapped, you need standard ecu, stick with what your doing, and if u want a bit more power without going fmic there are some good aftermarket tmic to be had,

Bearing in mind my car has done almost 168K miles but does have a FSSH, the engine should be more than capable of handling 300 bhp safely and smoothly? Also the wing commmander, is this capable of acting as a boost controller running between two separate boost levels?

The Prodrive ecu can be remapped, its just that they make more money when sold and then you buy an ae8000/801/802 and get that mapped instead.

OP, i would seriously consider not adding extra power to an engine with nearly 170k under its belt, the chances are that its probably a little tired and extra power could well end its life.

Thanks to mattybr5 I now have a vf28 on its way so all I need to get now is a cosworth panel filter, ngkpfr7b spark plugs and a walbro fuel pump and my shopping list is complete. Few other questions though, will I need a fuel pressure regulator for 300bhp and is an uprated tmic advisable? Also I had considered getting Andy F to do the remap with the apexi fc as he is not far from me but I have now come across the Jolly Green Monster and wondering who to choose?
