Default rubbing / grinding noise from rear wheel

Hi all, I've noticed a strange 'gentle' rubbing / grinding noise coming from the rear offside wheel (only hear it when i am geting sound reflected off nearby walls etc... so it is not too bad) - it disappears when i apply brakes gently. Could this be a seized calliper or worn pad or something worse? Cheers, Chris.

Most likely wheel bearing. If you leave it the hub will get damaged if not already.

D1CCY - would the noise disappearing when i apply the brakes be consistent with the wheel bearing worn out though?

cheers.

I think 'most likely wheel bearing' is unfair to say. could be yea i'll go with that.

Had some noise from mine recently. Had a sticky caliper piston thats all. Removed pads and cleaned and lube caliper fresh copper slip on nice clean pads and all is good.

Modern cleaninig agents tend over a period of time to remove the copper grease, lube etc form the brake components leading to pads sticking and squeeling etc. a good service of the brakes never hurts

Yeah i reckon it's the pad or calliper sticking - i reckon a good clean and re-grease will do the trick - i got the wheel off last night to check, seems stiff so i'll do the job at the weekend. to be fair it's probably due for new rear pads anyway, so may do it all at once. Thanks for all the advice guys.

laterz, Chris.
