Erratic boost on WRXPPP
Hi to everyone,
Could anyone give me any ideas please, as my 2005 WRXPPP is very erratic. When it's cold,it's like there is almost no boost, but when the temperature rises the boost feels fairly strong. Also when I've been for a progressive drive, let it cool (say for half an hour) then go out for another drive the boost feels very weak. It's very frustrating as my Clio 182 which I replaced with my WRX felt as quick.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Cheers
Steve

Thanks for the responses. My car is standard, no aftermarket dump valve. I cleaned out the boost solenoid and it seemed better once it was fully warm, let to cool off a bit then run again. Hope it's not the ECU though!

All PPP calibrations have protection in there for water and intake temperature. If the water's too cold or too hot it'll take boost away to keep it safe. If the intake temperature is too high, it'll also take some boost away to avoid det. Once the temps are within reasonable limits it'll let you use the full performance
My suggestion is to let it warm up a bit first as you shouldn't be driving a cold engine on too much boost anyway!
