Default Poor RR result?

Chaps.

Can you pls take a look at attached results & let me know what you think. Spec of car is pretty good IMHO & detailed within "car" link on the left - cdb, MD321t, 740 injectors, B Rawle remap etc.

"Only" achieved 398hp ... shouldn't it be nearer 420-450?

Cheers, TX.

You need more boost, not a bad result considering it is tailing off pretty quickly. Is this something you specifically wanted to keep a big safety margin?

Here are my graphs similar setup running a flat boost profile:

nice graph banny

with a topmount you will always get less power on a dyno out on the road the car should make more boost.

i dont know why your boost is tailing off so quickly could be due to heat soak have you thought of running 10% meth or E85 that should help keep the temps down and allow you to run more ignition and more boost. never the less a nice power curve must be very nice to drive on the road.

Car is mental on the road Have to be on guard as can easily be travelling at silly speeds.

Bob may have set the car up like that (didn't ask for it though) as when we were setting it up for 1.8bar it seemed to "misfire" (I'm terrible at mechanical stuff so may be way wrong on that) near the top of the rev range ie blowing out the spark of the plugs He suggested I uprate the plugs to some race spec ones which I've yet to sort out.

TX.

PS

It has a FMIC rather than TMIC.

Was the boost tailed off on purpose or did it not hold it? my car is similar spec to yours and when originally put on the rollers had a boost curve like that and it was caused by a split in an intercooler hose.Once repaired it held 1.8bar to the red and went to make 430bhp and 410lb/ft though was restricted by a 2.5"downpipe joint now it is 3"all the way and feels alot more punchy will be on the rollers next week to see if any different.

How did the RR figures compare to Bob's Delta Dash road dyno?

Not sure if Bob set boost to tail off like that or not, have sent him an email to ask. As above, the car was misfiring at high revs so could be deliberate until I sort the plugs? I've a 3" zorst already & 430bhp would do me ... for now

Bob couldn't delta dash the car due to ECU (Autronics)

dont you just close the sparkplug gaps a bit to something like 0.7mm if boost is blowing out the plugs

Chaps.

Bob has replied & commented that the car should be holding 1.8bar to the redline just like Bannys graph rather than dropping away as mine does. He also thought that running the car in 4th would have helped re results.

Can I do anything about it or is it just one of those things (apologies as I'm a complete novice re mechanical stuff!)? I have a manual boost controller that Bob set up for me (HKS EVC VI).

TX.

Edit - Kiran, I'll get someone to check the hoses etc for splits too.

TX I would not really mess about with the boost controller if you are not sure what you're doing, just get Bob to have look at it as the fuelling may need to be adjusted to suit the boost.

Went to see Mocom Racing last weekend - changed plugs to race ones (NGK racing 8s) sourced by me, v expensive so will probably just try "normal" ones next time with the gap closed as suggested above. Zak also replaced existing catch can as sum of the "inputs" was more then the "output" meaning that pressure was building up in the system. Also deleted front plate so that air can get to the FMIC Car defo runs better now than before I went there.

Didn't manage to sort out the boost issue as I left the instructions for my boost controller at home Zak thinks it is the controller not holding the boost though (he went with me for a few spirited runs) so to do with setting it up. Need to go back again sometime soon to get headers wrapped or coated so will try again ...

TX.

PS

No splits in hoses etc so all OK on that front.

All sorted Boost controller was wired up wrong so wasn't capturing revs or throttle travel ... Zak sorted that then set it up properly so now holds the 1.8 to the redline Cheers Zak
