Default HELP PLEASE - Scoob wont fire up!

Hi i have a 97 wrx version 3 which ive had for a year, to start it ive always turned it over where it hasnt quite fired up then second time i put my foot on throttle and she fires up straight away everytime until a few weeks ago it just wouldnt fire up. aa had a look said he thought it was fuel pump but thing is i can hear it prime but only sometimes would that mean it is broke and sticking? the other issue is my imobilser which is a hawk system the old owner said starting problems started when he put the system in could it be that? bat went flat yetserday so getting it recharged to have another look any suggestions guys. cheers, lee.

check the fuel pump connectors as they can corrode and cause a poor contact
