Is yours a MY97/98 "Ph.1.5". or MY99/00 "Ph.2"?

* If a MY97/98, the DV attaches to a bit of curved hose, and that hose's other end attaches to the cast curved metal elbow on the end of the TMIC. Then the DV's recirc port (the one out of the side) slots into the recirc port take-off on the turbo intake hose (actually, I think it may attach via a small bit of hose, rather than slot in directly).

* If a MY99/00, the DV attaches DIRECTLY to the TMIC via its bepoke flange and two diagonal bolts. Then there's a bit of hose that attaches its recirc port to the turbo intake pipe.

In both cases, the small vac nipple on both types of DV attach to the inlet manifold via narrow bore vac piping.

Its a MY97 i have attached the curved hose to the tmic via curved metal elbow and the other end of the hose is attached to the dump valve, the small vav pipe has gone from the inlet manifold two the dump valve nipple. so i do have a empty slot on the dump valve for something? has small bits of metal in that exit.

Also what oil for my type R 10w 40 or 10w 60 fully or part?

That remaining port on the dumpvalve connects to a pipe running beneath/behind the inlet manifold and joins the induction pipe immediately in front of the turbo. This should have been plugged if an atmospheric dumpvalve had been fitted prior to, so you'll need to remove the bung and reconnect the pipe - assuming it's still there somewhere.

If it was mine it'd be Mobil 1 Motorsport 15w/50. Any good full synth of around that sort of weight should be fine under most circumstances. 60 hot weight is a bit overkill on most roadgoing engines.

If you're using the CORRECT OEM MY97/98 DV for your car then it is a black plastic one with vac nipple on top, larger TMIC port at the bottom and a similar bore recirc port out the side at 90-degrees.

If you want to recirc the charge back into the intake system, then that free recirc port should be attached to the turbo intake hose's recirc return port. If you want to leave it as "VTA", then bung the intake hose's port with something suitable and fully airtight.

Here's Forge's pattern replacement:-

The OEM one follows the same basic pattern but is made of "cheap" black plastic............

Found the capped of pipe below so tapped one end to the DV. And the other outlet to the TMIC is it the right way around on the DV? Small pipe is on the nipple.

I believe you've connected it to the TMIC's elbow by the (wrong!) recirc port.

It's the port polar opposite the small vac nipple that goes to the TMIC, and the other one out of the side that goes to the turbo intake pipe... or just left vented to air (but blank off the recirc on the intake pipe if you do this).

Confused! so the elbow from the TMIC gets joined to the bottom connection on the DV?? at the moment that exit on the DV is joined to the one i found capped off as first pic shows. And my small pipe from the inlet manifold goes to the nipple connection on the DV

That's it. You need to make that change.

I have joined The pipe from the TMIC the bottom connection on the dump valve, and the other exit on the DV is vented to the air that exit has like a small steel bar inside it. That correct?

Not sure exactly which pipe you mean but nothing should be venting to air.

Have you turned it cos in your pic its wrong?

It's prob the fact that you've vented to air that side port.

That port should be recirced back to the recirc intake port on the turbo intake hose.

In that right hand pic the black hose should be moved to the bottom port of the DV.

Then the side port (the open one in the left hand pic) of the DV goes to the recirc port on the turbo intake hose. I have got that right, right? Anyone else?

And don't forget the small vac hose from top of DV to inlet manifold nipple.

yeah done that just the side port is vented to the air blanking cap still in the turbo intake hose. Rember you saying i could vent it to the air long as i keep the blanking cap in. But the idle is terrible.

Theoretically it should be okay at idle - when either VTA or recirc.

Try recircing it back to the turbo intake hose though - just to see if it cures it (shouldn't make any diff. when idling, though).

yeah I will put the free port on to the turbo intake hose remove blanking cap etc and see how it runs then. idle was very rough though cut out a few times when throttle blippped. I just hope my ecu wasent mapped to take the aftermarket parts. Also when i took off the vac pipe and looked at the DV nipple there seemed to be a touch of fluid on there, that normall?
