Default looking for 400

Hey,

have an 03 STi which has been mapped to around 330,have the usual,

de-cat,prodrive fuel pump,3-port,panel filter,intake hose

what would be required to get upto 400 bhp? induction kit required? I hate the noise of induction kits so would want to try and avoid that... my decat also tapers to 2.5',would I need a true 3' system?

I pressume my best option is a TD05 but whats the diffrences in 18 and 20g? MD321 is out of my budget.

thanks,

So far it's been cheap! The jump from an easy to obtain 330 to 400 means a fairly serious amount of wonga!
Turbo, injectors, induction, ported or tubular manifold, maybe 3" system, (although 400 is obtainable on a 2.5") maybe a boost controller, all fitted and mapped, will see you needing a budget in the region of 4 - 5k

I am now running 416 bhp on a standard block bugeye sti, Prior to replacing my exhaust I was at 401bhp. The spec was as follows, APS 3 inch including sports cat (DSAutomotive), Aeromotive FPR, 650cc injectors and FP Green turbo (Scoobymania) GEMS ECU (Steve Simpson @ TEG Sport) but I am sure ecutek can do same, uprated fuel pump and FMIC. I replaced the 3 inch exhaust with a 3.5 inch decat full system and that allowed 416 bhp, my mapper Steve Simpson reconed we could get 430 but at 97k miles we decided not to push to much. Roll on the forged rebuild as the turbo is good for @500 bhp!!!!

Out of the two the 20G will see you closer to your goal, changing the turbo, injectors and a remap alone should see you around 380

You can use your existing 2.5 if budget does not reach this, along with headers iirc we had a customer’s car which run a 2.5 restriction on the downpipe made around 480.

To give you some idea
Turbo including fitting will be around £950.00
Remap £300 ++
Injectors £400 New, £250 Used. Fitting £100
Headers and fitting £500.00
Induction £40-150.00
3" Turbo back Inc fitting £600.00

So you’re looking close to 3K if you go with the full kit, or around £1800 with out the headers and exhaust.

Do you have about £6-7k??

You'll need about £4-5k for the power mods, but unless you change the brakes and suspension, i guarantee you wont be able to use it on anything other than a straight line.

400 turns it into an animal !!

You could just whap on an 18g and remap and see what happens for about £1400.

what kind of budget do you have if your working on a tight budget then a lot of the things you can get second hand which should save you a bit of bob.

turbo choice 321h will give a bit more than 20G but 20G is a great turbo un ink mapped mine and got 419.5bhp but i had all supporting mods and a bit of meth.

Good luck with whatever you do mate

Hey,

I don't really plan to buy any bit's new...apart from a recon turbo,I would try and stay with the current exhaust, and to it I'd look at adding some injectors,a TD05,some form of induction kit if required??? and a map tweak from Race Dynamix at 150 quid. that will hopefully bring me close to 400 BHP and can't see how it will cost over 2k?

thanks for your input, the car already has Tein coilovers btw

Don't plan on buying any new bits, then mention injectors, turbo and induction kit.

- Injectors, fitted (£500)
- TD05/20G (£1000) - don't think about buying a cheap one!!
OR MD321H (£1400)
- APS 70mm or RCMS (£250)
- Remap (£150)

That's £2k there and you wont really have all the supporting mods, so might not hit 400.

Just coilovers wont keep you on the road. What bracing and brakes do you have?

You wont need injectors but an adjustable fuel pressure reg may be useful.

MD321H
Headers / uppipe
Large diameter induction kit - APS preferably
Map tweak

Would get you pretty close for around your budget ...

well cr turbos can do you a 20 g for about 850.00 that includes vat my 20g made 390bhp set of second hand injectors 250.00 and its only take an hour to fit them 50.00 seconds hand full 3 inch sytem 300 quid headers and up pipe speak to harvey on here and standard sti brembos shoudl be fine on the road with 400 bhp but maybe not on the track lets face it you dont drive like a loon on the road 24/7 and yeah a few strut braces wouldnt go a miss and you can pick them up cheap enought second hand and a fuel pressure reg is a must at that level but i might be worth you saving a few extra pennys for a md turbo as they are mor e likey to get you to 400 rather then a 20 g which is around 380-390 but the big thin here is the cluth as you might need a ap or helix for that and tthey are about 500+vat then fitting which is charge at 4.5 hours at most garages but really only take 3 hours as long as there is not to much tea and cakes involved

an uprated fpr is not a must at 400bhp, unless you plan on running higher than standard fuel pressure.
