If you were to ask Oilman, I'm sure he'd advise on 10W-40 or 15W-40... Or 10W-50 (or 15W-50) if you drive the car hard for extended periods.

Best to use fully synth, as it stays in grade - maintains its integrity - for longer. So only helps with things. Even if your engine has been run on a semi-synth for most of it's life, it's still better to use the best possible oil fully synth oils, as they have better heat dissipating properties as well.

All the way.

300v Motul 15w50, no problems at all with it.

I used Mobil 1, pony found it smoked on start up.

Millers CFS, Silkolene Pro S or Motul 300V Competition are highly recommended and used by Scoob enthusiasts.

Hi,

I have the same question, only had my Scooby two months...does the model of Impreza determine oil type though? I was told 5w-30 should go in a blob-eye WRX by Suburu but finding one that meets all the regulations according to the manual i am having trouble with.
Was gonna get 5w-30 Castrol GTX Magnetix.
I only want to do an interim service between the 10k service intervals. Subura wont tell me what brand they use. grrr

5W-30... or 5W-40 if you hoon for long periods.

Forget Castrol GTX - allegedly not suitable for the EJ flat-4.

Stick to Millers, Silkolene or Motul and you won't go wrong. Or go to Oilman's website and use his "Recommend me an oil" wizard for the options..........
