Default Friendly Decat MOT Centre In/Near Manchester

Tried two MOT Centre's near me today, just to see if they would Pass Mine Without Any CATS on it. Again (can't afford it yet) Nowt new there then

In small words NO. They looked at me like i was Stupid. (Nowt new there either) Just thought it would of been cheaper to do when (Duncan, Race Dynamix) does my Remap later in the year

Still unsure or not, Sports Cell Or Decat Downpipe. As one person said on here.. Cos i don't use mine in the week, it's Very Doubtful I would be stopped by the VOSA (Have crap look me)

Mate i was worried about mine as i took all the cats off and fitted the prodrive sports cat

here are my figures with the old stock cats fitted

Fast Idle:
CO 0.003%
HC 4ppm
lambda 1.023

Natural Idle:
CO 0.004%

here are my results from Fridays MOT with Prodrive sports cat

Fast Idle:
CO 0.13% limit is 0.20
HC 14ppm limit is 200
lambda 1.01 limit is 1.3

Natural Idle:
CO 0.04% limit is 0.30

well within limits so i was worried about nothing, hunt around for a sports cat mate i got mine of a top guy on here for £70 :-)

Hello Craig, I'm in the same position as you sort of. I'm having my classic mapped soon & the full exhaust system done at the same time. I have been recommended a de-cat but TBH my own personal research leads me to believe this would be a mistake. I own a classic but it will more than likely be exactly the same for your car (prices/cat position/n#s may vary though).

A good downpipe with a high flow (100cpi) sports cat will from what I've found out pass the MOT no problem as long as it is nice & hot before it's MOT (easy to do; just drive it alot before you go to the MOT bay) whereas a de-cat will not unless it's a slightly dodgy MOTer. The sports cat will cost you around £70-£150 more than a de-cat and although it will yield less power the % drop is marginal and a good mapper will probably only see 5-15bhp max difference between the two (IMO).
My friends classic, a heavily modified RA V-limited is running in excess of 400bhp and that still has a sports cat on it so you can still see incredible power figures given the correct mapping/mods.
I've decided to get a Sports cat for mine which will be a little quiter, less powerful and more expensive but atleast its legal and I should be able to take it to any MOT garage I see fit. Gareth

Good work Baz - I think the definition of those figures are 'sailed through'
