Default Fuel Pumps Dead

had a Problem recently where my car was stuttering when coming on boost seemed to start boosting hold back a fraction then shoot off, today on my way home it did the same thing but then it couldn't rev freely, anyway crawled it home went in the house to put scruffs on & let it cool down a tad.

When I went back out to investigate found it would just about start for a few seconds barley tick over fast enough not to stall then cut out, but I did notice I couldn't hear the fuel pump prime when I turned the ignition on. so I checked wiring to fuel pump all ok checked all fuses all ok so removed the fuel pipe off the fuel filter to see if it was pumping & it's not so gather the fuel pump has shuffled off this mortal coil.

I have ordered a walbro as a replacement, are fuel pumps dying a common occurance? it has done 159,000km.

I broke down last Friday, garage got back to me today saying it appears to be the fuel pump relay that's knackered on mine. Car started and ran for about thirty seconds and then cut out. Wouldn't re-start for about fifteen minutes then it'd do the same again. They by-passed the relay and car started, they even took it out for a twenty minute drive. Does that mean I can knock fifteen quid of the bill for the petrol they've used lo.

I googled that as well, and so far as I can tell it's under the dash on the passenger side. Meant to be a right pain to get too, someone mentioned having taken out the front seat I'm order to make getting under the dash easier.

Just see if you have 12v at the fuel pump, when you switch the ignition on you should get 12v at the pump for a few seconds if you get 12v there then the relay is ok, if you dont then its most proberly the relay.
