But best not to drive it at all, until day of mapping - if you can possibly avoid doing so so, that is.

If you have to drive then, as said, tickle the throttle as lightly as you dare and never let inlet manifold pressure get out of partial vacuum i.e. keep below 0bar/psi...

what actuli happens if u drive it on boost? i thrashed mine plenty of time without map, i was even boosting turbo 20 psi lol car was throwin flames too, was told this was cause it was over fueling wghich it was doin about 12 mpg, but now mapped and better of fuel 20 - 25mpg mpg but still chuckin flames!!! only 280 bhp and 320 torqe with standard turbo, seems strange

There's a greater volume of charge air arriving at the throttle body. Plus it's much cooler, therefore denser, than what the OEM ECU's map is designed to see. This could have a serious affect on the AFR as the fuelling may be woefully inadequate for this greater, denser charge of air going into the plenum. If so, then this (potentially) very lean A/F mixture will invariably lead to detonation, to a lesser or greater degree, and could spell curtains for your engine in very short order...
