Default 2002 H6 Outback VDC problem

Intermittent (about each 50 to 80 km) random VDC activation on corners, not caused by speed or terrain. Makes car shudder and move slightly out of line, so a little disconcerting and dangerous. Local technicians say probably faulty YAW sensor which costs a bit over NZ$4000 to replace, it appears to be producing spiking outputs.

Don't want to spend that silly price. I can turn off VDC but comes back on at 60 km/hr. Any ideas on disabling VDC and leaving ABS on? Or a source of cheaper part?

Thanks
