Default wrx hawkeye - brake advice needed please

I'm just about to have my WRX hawkeye remapped by Duncan. I was think of getting the brakes upgraded. Been advised to get better brake lines which I'm gonna get sorted asap.

I have budget of about £300 - i know this isnt much as I would love to spend more.

Any Ideas what I can get?

As I've only got a small budget, are the originals disc and pads as good as I'm gonna get? Are these cheap (drill & grooved) disc's I'm seeing on ebay any good?

Please all advice needed, thanks

For that budget it'll get you a set of OEM sized replacement top-notch performance discs and OEM-pattern performance pads for your existing calipers.

For discs, avoid cross-drilled - the holes are usually formed AFTER the casting or pressing process thus weakening the disc. This can manifest itself by causing cracking and crazing around the holes. Go for a grooved set, and ones with a small number of grooves per side, like 4, 6 or 8.

For pads (consult the wife or g/f )... seriously, carbon-metallic ones like Performance Friction and Carbone Lorraine are amongst the best. But the metal content is not disc-friendly, as you can imagine.

If you can, save up for something like Godspeed's 335mm kit, £625. On my first WRX I replaced the front disks with OEM sized Tar*Ox, a bit better but not all that. This time round I got the Godspeed, and it's great. In any case, worth asking Ian at Godspeed for advice:

Mine is remapped and I find the standard brakes okay!! Your best option imo would be keep the disks and a set of feroda ds2500 front pads

Braided lines, uprated fluid, better pads and decent discs can all be done within that budget.

Take a look at our website for some ideas on what is available: AZTEC PERFORMANCE ONLINE STORE - WHOLESALE PRICES DIRECT TO THE PUBLIC - Brakes :: Subaru Impreza :: Uprated Grooved Discs & Pads
