What, hard AND effective braking?

Or just hard... but bugger all braking force down at the discs/pads?

yeh the brakes work, but feels like an old car without servo assisted braking?

Is it just mine or do most impreza brakes feel like that? evo's an so on dont seem to feel any harder to push than any other car.

Could it be brakes may have an air lock sumwhere? or could calliper pistons be abit tight causing pedal to be harder to push?

I find that, inspite of the servo assisted set-up, you do actually have to give them a firm shove for meaningful braking force! The pedal has to be pressed through about a quarter to a third of its travel for any decent braking to occur. They're not responsive, top-of-the-pedal jobs like today's modern cars have, that's for sure.

Impreza braking system is renowned for being anything between crap to just adequate for most people.

hmmm so its not just me then, wonder why that is, every other company manages a nice soft pedal and still effective braking lol they do work, just always found it odd u have to be so firm an put so much pressure on the pedal lol

I know the exact feeling, the brakes are pretty poor and i've got the 4 pots up front.
Hopefully some recon jobbies will help on this.

You're like me - I LOVE easy top-of-the-pedal brakes. They inspire colossal confidence.

One school of thought is that the servo reservoir isn't big enough? Another one is that the servo relies on a partial vacuum for it to provide the assistance and that with the turbo models, there's often possitive boost pressure in the plenum... epsecially when you need the brakes most!

Not sure on the validity/science of that latter point though

surely someone knows how they work and knows what key component can be upgraded to give a huge leap in brake pedal feel?bound to be something?

no way of swapping in a newer servo or something like that???
