It's not as if rebalancing the front wheels would sort it, as they're balanced off the car, thus not taking the new discs' (possible) rotating imbalances into account.

How do we fix this? Anyone?

i would start by making sure the hub face where the disc mounts is 100% clean and free from rust etc! also make sure all the pistons in your calipers are free!
i had same trouble on mine problem was sticky pistons! but that was the subaru 4pots not brembos

Well I doubt it's the calipers as the steering wheel (for me at least) was wobble-free before they were done.

As regards clean hub faces etc... well you'd like to think the the respective fitters/API mechanics would've sorted that!

Get the discs dialled in again or indeed checked if not already done.

Nathan said you watched him clean the hub faces with the wire wheel machine when we fitted them.................

The wheels have been off and probably not put back on the same position / stud.

Therefore any run out of the wheel /tyre will have moved. Many aftermarket wheels we see here are not round and as a consequence, the tyre wears out of round too. making balance and position critical.

Yeah Dave - I wasn't saying he DIDN'T clean them, etc.!

The only explanation is what you say in your 2nd and 3rd paragraphs. If I get the wheels rebalanced, will this sort it?

Maybe, If the wheels are out of round, then no. But spinningn them on the balancer will show whether the wheels and tyres are round.

No amount of balancing can adjust an egg shaped wheel. At that point the only way to get back to where you were, is to move one wheel only, one stud at a time, until you get a happy result. [ or buy new circular wheels ]

If you do have to go one at a time, it is worth marking the wheels and studs permanently so that any one removing them can put them back where they were.

Well, I doubt my wheels are out-of-round - as I say they were fine before the brakes were done.

If mechanic had this knowledge, then would it not have been much of a stretch for him to mark (with chalk, tape, or whatever) the position of one bolt hole of the wheel relative to the stud it came off of? Then that would've prevented me (possibly) from having to go through these now arduous trials to try to re-establish wobble free steering again.......

John, It is so unusual to have a problem like this, that almost no mechanic anywhere will mark wheels for this situation.

In an ideal world it would get done every time a wheel is taken off, but the world is not an ideal place.

Get 'em checked over on a balancer - maybe it is a simple problem. Maybe the discs are a different mass weight to the originals.

etc., etc., etc.

Gone are the days of old where wheels could be balanced on a car - that sorted out many evils.

Yeah, no worries.

The wobble is mild, to be fair.

I'll get 'em rebalanced. I'm sure it won't sort it (as you explained), but it might make it a bit smoother.......
