Default idle problem

Hi i have problem with my subaru 1994 wrx. I went to subaru to find out my idle control valve is not working propley. They told me to get another one so i got a second hand one and fitted it now its running lumpy and the check engine light is on and it has no power and is missing and back popping can anyone help me please. many thanks ricky.

Reset the ecu Scoobypedia | Trusted knowledge for everything Subaru | Knowledge / ECU

Disconnecting the battery for an hour or so can do it but the above link is a definate way of resetting.

I always reset the ecu after fitting new sensors etc.

Hi mate thank you for your reply i disconnected the battery while i was fitting the idle control valve the battery was off for about 3 hours.

You will probably need to set it for your car, but first yo should give it a clean. At first take the plug off and take the two wee scews out and pull it off, it is magnetised so when it comes off i have seen small bits of metal sticking to it give it a quick clean put it back on connect plug but dont tighten the screws right up. start car and adjust it on the sliders get someone to sit in car and set it to 800rpm when the car is warm. if you cant set it take it rught of and clean the inside make sure the wee flap is movin freely.
