Default Dump valve delete

Right I have put the blank on to delete the dump valve, it doesn't feel as quick.
Is there a reason for this?

Or do I just wait for a remap, it also doesn't seem to boost as much. I know the turbo is dying on me by the day.

I doubt the plate is leaking as there a proper seal

It may not be quite as responsive as before, immediately after a full boost pull and gearchange, as the turbo is being stalled by the charge air coming to a dead stop against the throttle plate as pressure waves being forced the wrong way back through the turbo and inlet. - the turbo then needs to 'restart' and build boost again

Surley the stalling of the turbo causes damage. Is it worth killing the turbo early just for some noise?

Ive read this too. The only gain is the noise.... the negatives are delayed spool during gear changes, chance of smashing the blades on the turbo and tiring the turbo out before its time.... I suppose if you have s spare few hundred quid just in case it does grind to a halt then sprinting up and down the streets chattering is cool

I don't have any noise from it.
As I was going Hybrid TD04 thought I could do this.
I'm not sure if I like not having it. Only trying it out.
Before people starting going on about, the noise, being chavvy, or anything else. I am only having fun just trying different things out for now.

I have had a headache with my car already.

TD04 should be OK - It will shorten the life of the turbo, but is less prone to shattering the compressor wheel, like the early VF series turbos can do.

TD04's can be had for £50, so i wouldn't worry about doing it too much

Suppose if it did go pop, I could use it as an excuse with the Mrs and get a VF34

If it isn't your mind playing tricks with you, there's certainly a reason. Do you actually know (from boost gauge etc) that performance has dropped, or is it just a feeling?

Or do I just wait for a remap, it also doesn't seem to boost as much. I know the turbo is dying on me by the day.
If you already had a suspect turbo, the increased stress caused by the dumpvalve delete may be accelerating its demise. Also, if I'm correct in thinking you have an MY99 or '00, you might already have damaged the airflow sensor and the resultant misreads are sapping power. If so you need to be bl**dy careful as that sort of failure almost invariably involves det.

The TD series turbos can withstand it better than some others but that's only part of the issue. If you do have a 99/00 on standard management and MAF, dumpvalve delete can be a recipe for a blown engine unless you watch the thing like a hawk. For the almost undetectable difference it makes on a TMIC setup you might as well not bother. Return doesn't justify the risk.

I have only put it on tonight, just to see, and to be honest with you don't really like it, I heard people have done this, and will be putting the dump valve back on.
I have been checking the boost gauge and the AFR and its running rich.
