Applied model code if it's an import

Series code G=Impreza S=Forester B=Legacy etc.
Body type F=Wagon C=Sedan
Engine type 8=2.0L Turbo
Year code A=MY93 B=MY94 C=MY95&96 D=MY97 (facelift) E=MY98 F=MY99 G=MY00
Number of doors 2=2 door coupe 4=4 door saloon 5=5 door wagon/hatch
Model type 8=WRX 7=RA type E=Sti D=Sti Type R & RA
Transmission D=5 Speed Manual AWD P=4 Speed Automatic AWD

UK model code is slightly different

Yes. The code says that it's a MY1998 (Sep 97 - Aug 98) 'vanilla' WRX only.

The code isn't right. There a MY letter missing after the 8... amongst other anomolies.The K, though, indicates it's a UK Turbo 2000 model.

Look at the "Applied model" 7-digit code on the VIN plate on passenger suspension turret and carefully post it....

That does not quite work for my code,

my code is GC8E48D

G = Impreza - Correct
C = Sedan - Correct
8 = 2.0 - Correct
E = MY98 - Mine is a 1994 preface lift
4 = 4 door - Correct
8 = WRX - Correct
D = 5 speed manual - Correct

i dont know if its me, am i missing something or have i got it wrong?

I have just checked it on that web site, and it definately says with my model code it should be a 97/98 car. But mine is on a 94M reg, and its definately got the pre-facelift front end.

What is this about? should i be worried about this? what does it mean?

Strange that your code is E - it should be B (MY94), or C (MY95)???

Joz that was my worry! i was getting really concerned as i thought it was a clean straight car with good mileage (42000) so i was panicing!

At least it was my error and the car is straight, cant believe i wrote down a E instead of a C.

I have been and checked it in the snow and it definately is a C so that is correct MY95!

No, Joz, the code is correct, you are wrong on this one, you're getting the applied model code and the VIN mixed up. Nie has quoted a legitimate VIN.

There a MY letter missing after the 8... amongst other anomolies
No. The MY letter is there. It's the tenth character of a VIN. X, in this case, which means 1999 model year.

You have an MY99 Impreza Turbo 2000. Silver, I wouldn't be at all surprised.

Incidentally you might want to edit your post (and ask anyone quoting it to do the same) so your VIN isn't on show. It shouldn't be significant but you never know...

My apologies (again!) SP. Without checking the protocol of the long VIN... I assumed that the odrer of the 7-digit App Model code was the same and embedded in that VIN number.

I bow my head in shame for my procrastination... I'll get me coat.......................
